The first EN54 certified digital linear heat detection range

Given the growing importance of fire and life safety across the globe, it is essential that fire alarm and fire detection systems hold the required certifications within relevant jurisdictions. Thermocable is proud to announce the launch of its ProReact EN Digital LHD range of solutions that have been developed specifically to meet the needs for Europe.

EN54-28:2016 was approved by CEN in December 2015 and specifies the requirements and performance criteria of non-resettable (or ‘digital’) linear heat detection cable within Europe. Thermocable has developed and designed its new system that meets this criterion and, in doing so, introduces the first EN54-28:2016 certified linear heat detection system to Europe.

An entire system approval

Thermocable’s ProReact EN Digital LHD range has been approved to EN54-28:2016 as a system rather than as individual components. With the broadest range of EN54:28 approved digital LHD cable on the market, each ProReact EN Digital system must include the following components:

• ProReact EN Digital LHD Cable – 68⁰C, 78⁰C and 88⁰C alarm temperatures currently available
• ProReact Digital Sensor Control Unit (DSCU)
• ProReact Digital End of Line Unit

The maximum zone length of the ProReact EN Digital LHD cable is up to 1,000 metres, which is relatively large in relation to other EN54 certified line type heart detectors. However, this can be doubled to 2,000 metres as the ProReact Digital Sensor Control Unit is able to monitor up to two zones of detection cable in a single system. Thermocable’s ProReact EN Digital range was first launched in 2019 and has gathered strong support from customers and end users across the UK and mainland Europe.
