The 701PH smoke and heat detector operates as a standard optical detector under normal ambient conditions. However, when a rapid rise in temperature is detected, the sensitivity of the optical detector increases to help better identify smoke particles. The 701PH is the first conventional detector from Johnson Controls which is approved to EN54-29, a non-harmonised standard for multi-sensor detectors.

These intelligent, conventional detectors come with built-in drift compensation (P and PH variants only). Once the drift compensation limit has been reached, i.e. the detector has become too dirty to operate at the same sensitivity, the detector will automatically adjust the sensitivity to allow it to continue operating. This feature will extend the life expectancy of the detector.

The built-in microprocessor in each 700 series detector provides significantly improved detection algorithms. These algorithms are equivalent to non-Fast logic in our Gen6 detectors and offer the same detection performance and false alarm rejection.
